Carsley United Methodist Church is planning its annual Carsley Day celebration on Sunday, October 4. The Surry County Historical Society will participate by opening Rogers Store from around 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The events for the morning include a church service at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch.
Following the service and lunch, the Historical Society will have Rogers Store open for guests to visit. The general store, which began as Gwaltney’s Store, was build around 1894, and was the home of the Surry-Sussex Telephone Company. Come see how a general store might have been set up in days past!
