Books of Interest - April & May 2020

Our April and May Book of the Month is Images of America, Surry County by Deborah Harrison Dawson. Written in 2012, on behalf of the Surry County, Virginia Historical Society & Museums, Inc.,  the book is “a photographic record of rural people in their own historic environment sharing life’s events, working, laboring together in local industry, developing industrial traditions and creating memories.” Surry County was formed from James City County in 1652, and the book covers life in the small towns of Surry County as well as its many communities within the borders of the county. The contents included are Early History and Historic Building, Farming and Business, Schools and Churches, and People and Places.

Since our building is closed, most sales of this book will need to be by mail. $22.00 for the book, plus $2.50 for postage. (Total $25.50) Requests may be sent to our P. O Box 262, Surry, VA 23883.
