Surry County’s railroad history is an interesting story of the railways and their cars and how they impacted life in the county more than 100 years ago! If you would like to know more about these railroads, put Monday, September 15, 6:15 p.m. on your calendar! The Surry County Historical Society, and the Dendron Historical Society invite to you to participate in this joint program to be held at the Dendron Historical Society. Come early to tour the great displays at the Dendron site and join Bill Richardson there to share his knowledge about the Surry, Sussex and Southampton Railway.
We then meet inside around 7 p.m. to hear from Jack Huber and Fred Seward, who will talk about the “other” railroad, The Atlantic and Danville. This event is free to everyone. Dendron Historical Society is located at 2855 Rolfe Highway ( Route 31) in the heart of Dendron!
