Rogers Store Tour - September 2020
Join us Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Rogers Store for a tour and a movie!! We may even have music on the front porch! Rev. Ray Rowland has even agreed to sing his famous “Peanut Song,” written originally for the Carpenter Museum in Waverly! Here’s what we have planned! It is going to be a fun day!
Showing of The Virginia Peanut Story, filmed mainly in Sussex and Surry area, which tells the rise and fall of the peanut industry in Virginia and North Carolina, and features area farmers! The show was produced by independent film producer, Amy Drewry, of Surry County. It has been shown on area PBS stations and is now available in DVD format! We will show the one-hour film at 2:00 p.m. and again at 3:00 p.m. in the back room of Rogers Store. Please bring your own lawn/fold-up chair! The DVD is available for purchase for $20 (Cash or check only). It can also be purchased at the Surry Historical Society building at 281 Bank Street in Surry on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
