Books of Interest - June 2020

Our June “Book of the Month” is Cabin Point, The Forgotten Village, written by another Surry author, the late Barbara Hopper. She writes that, “The exact date of the founding of Cabin Point is not known, but it is said that Scotch, Welch, and English emigrants settled in this area around the year 1643. Located in the northwest corner of Surry County, VA, was the village of Cabin Point, and Mrs. Hopper strives “to preserve both the written and oral history about the village.” Her book begins with the founding of the village, and includes sections covering the 1600’s-1800’s, Periods of War- Revolutionary, War of 1812, and Civil War, and original sources such as letters and pictures.
